Kirtle in two styles, for girls aged approx. 9-12 years
Main style: a semi-fitted kirtle with back-lacing and either long or short sleeves. A short-sleeved kirtle should normally be worn underneath an outer garment, or at least with pinned-on long sleeves. The long-sleeved version may be worn on its own or with a gown or surcoat.
Second style has V front lacing and either long or short sleeves. As above, a long-sleeved version may be worn on its own with a stomacher under the lacing. A short-sleeved version is only for wear under a gown. The open lacing is ideal for developing figures.
