Your Information - What We Collect And Why

Account and Order Information

Purchases and account management on this site requires that you log in with a valid account ID and password. Please try to remember your account ID and keep your password safe. It is important that you always choose a password which is hard to guess for others, and protect your password against disclosure.

In order to successfully process your orders, this website has to gather certain pieces of personal information, including (but not limited to), your name, address, email address and other contact details. We may also need to gather your credit card or other payment details, though these are never stored anywhere on our servers.

The data is collected only to allow us to ship your order, to query/inform you of any issues with your order and very occasionally to notify you of important developments, which we think will be of interest to you. We do not collect data for any other purposes.

We will take all reasonable steps to protect this data and share it only where required to do so, either by law enforcement organisations, or with third parties, such as the postal service (who still require that we write your arredd on the package so that it can be delivered).

Cookies

We use cookies on our websites. Cookies are small data files that your browser places on your computer or device. A cookie itself does not contain or collect information. However, when it is read by a server via a web browser it can help a website deliver a more user-friendly service – for example, remembering previous purchases or account details. Some cookies last until you close your browser, others are stored for longer.

We use cookies in order to remember your choices, to give you a better user experience by improving our web sites and for providing content more accurately suited to your needs.

Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can prevent cookies from being stored on your computer or device by setting your browser to not accept cookies. Some browsers provide a mode where cookies are always deleted after a visit. This is called InPrivate in Internet Explorer version 8 and newer; Incognito in Google Chrome version 10 and newer; Private Browsing in Firefox version 3.5 and newer; Private Browsing in Safari version 2 and newer and Private Browsing in Opera version 10.5 and newer.

The exact instructions for this can be found in the manual for your browser. You can delete cookies already on your computer or device at any time. If you choose not to accept cookies at all, you can still visit our website, however we cannot guarantee an optimum experience without cookies.

Tracking Visitors

Like most web sites, we gather a certain amount of information on everyone who visits the site. These log files are maintained and analysed to help us monitor website usage. They capture the user’s IP addresses and some details of configuration (browser type, etc.), but no personal information. This information is then aggregated before being presented to staff to monitor site use.

We will make no attempt to track or identify individual users, except where there is a need to investigate unauthorised access to our systems.

As a condition of use of this site, all users must give permission for Sarah Thursfield and her representatives to use its access logs to attempt to track users who are reasonably suspected of gaining, or attempting to gain, unauthorised access.

All log file information collected by us is kept secure and no access to raw log files is given to any third party.

Use Of Your Data

The exact instructions for this can be found in the manual for your browser. You can delete cookies already on your computer or device at any time. If you choose not to accept cookies at all, you can still visit our website, however we cannot guarantee an optimum experience without cookies.

Tracking Visitors

Generally, processing of personal data will take place in accordance with applicable legislation and best practices concerning data security. Credit card information is directed to one or more approved and certified service provider(s), and will not be stored by us for longer than it takes to process the data.

We WILL NOT sell or share your details to other organisations (exceptions to this are detailed below), except as a requirement of fulfilling your orders (e.g. we share your postal address with the Royal Mail by writing it on your package so that it can be posted), inside or outside Europe, use them for marketing mail-shots or other purposes beyond those listed above.

Please note that there is a requirement for all organisations who collect data to share it with certain law enforcement agencies to assist in their duties. We will co-operate with such organisations where the proper legal processes have been completed (e.g. court orders).

Security Of Your Data

All data that we collect is stored in a secure database on our web server and afforded all the reasonable protection that you would expect on commercial data storage servers. These servers are maintained by a trusted and professional third party with considerable experience in this field. While we are currently hosted by a UK based data centre, we cannot guarantee that this will remain the case.

We take your data security very seriously, but whilst we have policies, rules and measures in place and try to take all reasonable steps to safeguard your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you provide online.

Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any websites which may be linked from this website, so please check these separately.
